Access to justice for women, children and vulnerable communities remains a structural challenge across many African justice systems.
The barriers operate at multiple levels — geographic distance, financial cost, language, social norms and institutional capacity — and they often compound, leaving the most marginalized populations effectively outside the formal justice reach.

The note maps three families of opportunities institutions can mobilize today:

A pathway for institutional partners
Programmes engaging on access to justice should articulate four threads in parallel: legal aid, mobile services, judicial training and civil society anchoring. Each thread has a different rhythm, but together they form a credible institutional response.
